Vase with flowers
This is a simple design, but one that's perfect for lots of variability, which I love in all things. This vase design is the one I make most often. There are also flower pots (with and without snails or other wildlife) and they're available by request if I have any available.
We don't use templates (except a headless one that I don't keep to anyway for the Venus de Milo), but I developed a nifty trick to keep these vases symmetrical so that they can be any shape as long as they are comfortable to hold. After sawing one side out, I place the off-cut in reverse on the other side and draw round it.
No two spatulas will ever be exactly the same. Each piece of wood is different, and the shape, curve and grain make up the character of each spatula. There are no templates. Cut, sanded, finished and oiled by hand, each one is unique, and the photographs should be treated as a fair guide only. This one is in ash.
